The Best (and Craziest!) New Groceries Hitting Store Shelves in January 2020
New year, new snacks.
Whether your New Year's resolution is to step out of your culinary comfort zone or you're just stuck in a rut at the grocery store, it's time to kick off 2020 with some new products. From crunchy snacks to out-of-the-box breakfasts, here are the foods we can't wait to try.
The mashup you never thought you needed now exists. Post and Hostess have teamed up to turn the iconic Twinkie into a breakfast cereal. Each puffed piece of corn cereal looks exactly like the log-shaped snack cake you know and love, and while the signature creamy center may be missing, this cereal is still majorly sugary.
Goldfish has given us yet another reason to smile (and eat our veggies). The newest Goldfish Veggie Crackers incorporate real vegetables into a cheesy, bite-sized snack. Seriously — each serving size packs one-third a serving of veggies! While these little guys shouldn’t replace all the vegetables in your diet, they’re an easy way to get in some greens in a pinch.
We found your new game-day go-to. Lay's fan-favorite kettle cooked chips are now available in a tangy, flamin' hot flavor. Each chip is loaded with fiery chili pepper spices for a hot, unforgettable punch.
We love a treat that’s sweet and salty, so Pop-Tarts’ newest creation is sure to hit the spot. These Pretzel Pop-Tarts combine that sweet, gooey filling with a salty, flaky pretzel crust, and they’re available in two drool-worthy flavors: Chocolate and Cinnamon Sugar.
Gluten-free cookies often get a bad rap for having a gritty texture, but the latest drop from Pepperidge Farm may just blow your mind. The brand recently released its first-ever gluten-free cookies, avaialble in two varieties: Milk Chocolate Chip and Butter Crisp. Made from rice flour, these paper-thin treats still boast that crunchy, buttery taste you crave — without being overly grainy.
It’s Truly Hard Seltzer — but with a twist. Boston Beer Company (the producer of this low-cal drink) has recently released Truly Lemonade Seltzer, a mix of hard seltzer and sweet lemonade. Like the other Truly flavors, each can still clocks in at just 100 calories and 1 gram of sugar, and the variety pack includes four different styles: Original Lemonade, Black Cherry Lemonade, Mango Lemonade and Strawberry Lemonade.
Looking to cut back on sugar in the new year? TAZO has you covered. The brand has released a new lineup of bottled iced teas featuring its most popular flavors: Passion, Zen and Awake. Each iced tea is made with no artificial colors or sweeteners, and the Passion, Zen and Awake bottled teas contain 20% less sugar than other of its ready-to-drink blends.
You know you’ve always wanted to have candy for breakfast 😉. Luckily for us, General Mills’ newest Jolly Rancher cereal makes that dream a reality. This candy-inspired breakfast cereal includes a mix of crunchy grape, cherry, apple, watermelon and blue raspberry-flavored pieces.
Nabisco is kicking off 2020 with a bang by launching not one but TWO new Oreo flavors: Chocolate Marshmallow and Caramel Coconut. The Chocolate Marshmallow Oreos boast real marshmallow pieces baked inside the cookies along with a chocolate-marshmallow creme, and the Caramel Coconut cookies feature a caramel creme. We have a feeling they’d be especially delicious dunked in a mug of coffee or hot chocolate...
Now that we’re officially past peppermint and gingerbread season, it’s time to put a new candy on your radar: Trolli’s Crunchy Crawlers. This new sugary snack features Trolli’s sour gummy worms coated in a thin, crunchy shell, and they’re available in three different flavor combos: strawberry-watermelon, raspberry-orange and lime-cherry.
’90s kids, prepare your tastebuds. Walmart is throwing it waaaay back with limited-edition Galactic Fruit Gushers. Trust us, these aren’t the same ol’ fruit snacks you’d crack open at lunchtime. The Galactic Fruit Gushers feature flavors like Asteroid Apple and Berry Star Cluster, and there’s even a mystery flavor!
Baking peanut brittle at home can seem like a daunting task, but Betty Crocker’s new at-home peanut brittle mix makes it quick and easy. You’ll still get the crispy texture and crunch you crave but without the stress or cleanup. The brittle mix is also offered in two other snackable flavors: Brownie and Chocolate Chip Cookie.
